I alredy have diabeties and my doctor said my blood glucose or sugar is elevated after performing blood test.?

i visited my doctor for my periodic blood drawn test as a diabetic patient. the following day the doctor called me and said my blood glucose or sugar is elevated and i don't need to add more sugar. what does that mea?
